Hand-signed and signed in the block; from the scarce hand-signed edition (one of approx. 150 hand-signed sets issued for the German-speaking market), with the special “Marie-Louise” mount as issued

Dimensions: Sheet 33 × 26.5 cm (13 × 10.4 in.)

Condition: In very good condition; may show soft handling creases at the edges; image very clean otherwise, with bright and vivid colours. Unframed.

Period: 1963

One of the 100 woodcuts illustrating Dante’s Divine Comedy. After Dalí’s watercolours, the blocks were cut by master engraver Raymond Jacquet; according to Albert Field, engravers worked from 1959 to 1963 to carve the more than 3,500 wood blocks used for the 100 woodcuts. Published by Les Heures Claires, Paris. This impression belongs to the rare hand-signed edition, complete with its special “Marie-Louise” as issued.
