Condition: Varies from sheet to sheet. The support and margins show defects — tears, paper losses, staining, short/trimmed margins, several sheets washed, creases and corner damage (e.g. Vallotton PL. 119, loss to upper-left corner; Chéret PL. 197, corner tears; Misti PL. 215, heavy browning; Rhead PL. 200, right-margin tear; Ethel Reed PL. 99, tear to top edge). The lithographed images themselves, however, are in fine condition overall: plates recommended for framing, with a mat concealing the damaged margins to make them fully presentable.
Description: A group of 19 authentic plates from the celebrated Maîtres de l’Affiche, the reference series that reproduced the finest French and international posters of the 1890s — Chéret, Grasset, Vallotton, the Beggarstaffs, Ethel Reed, Louis Rhead, Rassenfosse, Moreau-Nélaton and others.
