Plate 60 of Les Maîtres de l’Affiche, the legendary subscription series published monthly in Paris from December 1895 to November 1900 under the artistic direction of Jules Chéret and printed by Imprimerie Chaix, reproducing in collectable format the finest posters of the Belle Époque. Glenny’s design for the Women’s Edition of the Buffalo Courier — a woman’s profile crowned by a monumental hat, in deep blues and reds — is one of the most striking American images of the series and a landmark of women’s graphic design of the 1890s.
