Plate from the portfolio Hommage à Arthur Köpcke, published in 1979 by Den Danske Radeerforening af 1853, Copenhagen, in memory of the Fluxus pioneer Arthur “Addi” Köpcke (1928–1977); copies are held by Harvard Art Museums, mumok Vienna and The Broad, Los Angeles — this very Beuys plate is in the Broad collection. Beuys, the most influential German artist of the post-war era and a close companion of Köpcke in the Fluxus years, contributed this offset bearing his original rubber stamps, the hallmark of his multiples.
