Description: Erró appropriates François Gérard’s Cupid and Psyche (1798, Musée du Louvre), cutting the neoclassical couple out of its landscape and setting it against a grisaille field of interlaced limbs and outstretched hands. The blue ground flattens the space and turns the borrowed painting into a pasted fragment. A line of printed text runs along the lower left of the image, carried over from the collaged source. The confrontation of academic ideal and raw carnality is characteristic of Erró’s Narrative Figuration work of the 1970s.

Original screenprint printed in colours, hand-signed in pencil by the artist. Hors commerce proof, printed outside the numbered edition and reserved for the artist and his collaborators.
