Plate 204 of Les Maîtres de l’Affiche, the legendary subscription series published monthly in Paris from December 1895 to November 1900 under the artistic direction of Jules Chéret and printed by Imprimerie Chaix, reproducing in collectable format the finest posters of the Belle Époque. Riquer, the leading figure of Catalan Modernisme in the graphic arts, designed this poster for the Napoleón photographic studio on the Rambla de Santa Mònica in Barcelona: a Pre-Raphaelite muse raising a print to the light, against a tapestry of sunflowers and wild flowers.
