Description: An untitled composition in monochrome black watercolour, painted directly in the collector’s guest book and dedicated by hand. Born in Menton in 1930, Émile Marzé exhibited across the Côte d’Azur from the early 1950s and showed in 1952 at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture Méditerranéenne organised by the UMAM (Union Méditerranéenne pour l’Art Moderne) at the Musée des Ponchettes in Nice. A laureate of the Paris Biennale (1961) and a leading organiser of the Menton International Art Biennials, he moved between Mediterranean still life and landscape and a more abstract idiom; his work is held in several museums.
