Unsigned and unnumbered, as issued; inscribed Collège within the composition, as printed; from copy no. 206, one of 380 on vélin d’Arches numbered 37 to 416, from a total edition of 450.

Condition : Fresh impression, blue unfaded; full margins, deckle edge at right; brown foxing spot in the upper left corner of the margin; unframed.

The opening plate of the album and the most frequently reproduced: a figure with three superimposed faces beneath three stars, inscribed Collège, which Pierre Chanel relates to the “three decisive circumstances” that open the narrative (Jean Cocteau poète graphique, Chêne/Stock, 1975).
