Le bal masqué, 1899

Original etching (Eau-forte & Aquatint) on Vergé d'Arches paper (Arches' watermark lower margin).

An edition of only 50 or 60 copies is very likely. Very scarce!

Hand-signed lower right margin & signed on the plate on the bottom left corner.

L'Estampe Nouvelle's monogram stamped on the plate bottom left.

+Size of the sheet: 44 x 50,5 cm / 17,3 x 19,8 in.
+Size of the image: 36 x 44 cm / 14,1 x 17,3 in.

Condition: In overall good condition, with soft handling creases at the edges, and some minor stains in the margins. Some slight flows on the paper, and some notable soft folds on the top corners. Image very clean otherwise, with beautiful colors.

Published by L'Estampe Nouvelle, a publication of Art prints founded by Eugène Rodrigues-Henriques (said Erastène Ramiro) and Roger Marx in 1897, for only 50 subscribers at that time.

Each printing never exceeded 65 proofs, including 50 copies for L'Estampe Nouvelle's subscribers, and only ten copies for the public. Therefore, all the works on papers and etching were significantly rare. In July 1899 was published this artwork by Richard Ranft. A highly collectible etching!

Referenced in Bailly-Herzberg #272 & #355.
