Helen of Troy — the unfaithful wife of Menelaus whose abduction launched the Trojan War — shown as a reclining female nude in a hammock of pale drapery beneath a tree, in a verdant landscape, drawn in the soft, fluid washes of Dalí’s source watercolour and cut as one of the thirteen full-page colour woodcuts for Ovid’s Art of Love. A hand-signed, numbered impression on Arches, signed and dated in the plate. For sale, the book’s justification page (bearing copy 118/144 and Dalí’s pencil signature) is the reference authenticating document.
