Condition : brown stains and tide marks around the right-hand image; adhesive traces at the upper left of the right-hand page. Otherwise good condition. Unframed.
Provenance : Livre d’Or de Yves Guérin, 1963–2006; Yves Guérin directed the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice, then the Casino de Dinard, and later associated himself with the exhibitions of the Espace Blanche de Castille at Poissy; between 1963 and 2006 he gathered in a single album some sixty original works drawn and dedicated to him by the artists he received.
Executed across the full double-page spread of the guest book. The left page carries a calligraphy of the Chinese numerals — one to ten, then a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand — annotated in pencil with their Arabic equivalents and punctuated by carved red seals; the right page carries the lotus composition in ink, gouache and gold. The only work in the album to occupy two facing leaves.
