A hand-signed colour lithograph from the numbered edition of 100 of Giuseppe Ungaretti’s poem “Cantetto senza parole,” realised with Piero Dorazio (his composition dated 1966). One of Ungaretti’s late poems on the theme of light, much revised after its first appearance in 1957, the Cantetto is regarded as a turning point in his late poetics. The famous copy 38/100 of this edition was the poet’s birthday gift to Bruna Bianco, his last muse, dedicated 16 April 1967. The same theme of light (“la luce”) would later run through “La Luce,” the Dorazio–Ungaretti livre d’artiste published by the Erker-Presse in 1971.
