Description: A circus orchestra — the emblematic subject of Nathalie Chabrier, the leading French painter of circus life, closely associated with the Cirque Médrano and later honoured on a Monte-Carlo circus-festival postage stamp. A Paris-trained painter, lithographer and illustrator (Faulkner, Peyré, Trenet) and wife of the painter Roger Forissier (also represented in this book), she was awarded the Prix du Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice and held a circus-themed solo exhibition there in 1962 — directly connecting her to Yves Guérin’s casino milieu the year before this dedication.
