Description: Racehorses — a signature subject of Giuseppe Cesetti, the Tuscania-born master of the Italian Novecento renowned for his Maremma horses, bulls and Etruscan landscapes. Professor of painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice and a regular at the Quadriennale and Biennale, Cesetti spent his mid-1960s French period drawing on the Camargue and the racecourses. A particularly fine watercolour, painted and signed by hand in the collector’s guest book at the exact moment of his Nice exhibition.
