Signed and inscribed by hand: “Pour M. et Mme Yves Guérin”

Dimensions:
Sheet 29.7 × 21 cm (11 ⅝ × 8 ¼ in.)

Condition: good condition, unframed

Provenance: Livre d’Or de Yves Guérin, compiled 1963–1992 (single-owner provenance). The December 1969 dedication coincides exactly with Maurice Savin’s 145-work retrospective at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice (December 1969 – January 1970), directly documenting the artist’s presence in Yves Guérin’s casino milieu.

Description: A scene of itinerant street vendors — the kind of everyday market life Maurice Savin loved to depict. A Drôme-born painter, engraver, ceramist and tapestry designer, Chevalier de la Légion d’honneur and a long-standing member of the Salon d’Automne committee, Savin celebrated peasant life and the light of the Midi in warm ochres and reds, earning him a reputation as an “unsung Bonnard.” Drawn in ballpoint and dedicated by hand in the collector’s guest book.

Price : 100,00  ( 113.00 USD )
