Provenance: Livre d’Or de Yves Guérin, compiled 1963–1992 (single-owner provenance). Dated from the period when the collector was at the Casino de Dinard.

Description: A luminous harbour — moored fishing boats with raking masts and warm-toned sails beneath a great radiant sun whose rays spread across a pale sky, with reflections and further boats and a tower in the distance — in warm yellows, oranges and reds touched with green. Jean Navarre was a French painter, lithographer and illustrator, trained at the École Duperré and the ENSBA under Lucien Simon, where his fellow students included Lucien Fontanarosa (also in this album) and Robert Humblot; he won the Prix Puvis-de-Chavannes (1973) and was appointed Peintre officiel de l’Air et de l’Espace in 1986, the very year of this sheet, exhibiting alongside Buffet, Aïzpiri and Camille Hilaire. His art seeks an atmospheric light that seems to rise from within the picture. Signed, dated and dedicated by hand.
