Original wrappers toned and rubbed; spine worn with splits, chipping and small losses of paper; creases and softened corners to the front cover; scattered small foxing spots and a faint stain on the front cover; interior clean, pages evenly toned; text block still holding. Unframed.
Period: first edition, 1897.
The most important contemporary publication on Mucha, issued at the height of his Paris fame during his retrospective at the Salon des Cent in 1897. The cover is an original lithograph designed by Mucha for this issue. Texts by Léon Deschamps, Yvanhoé Rambosson, Frantz Jourdain, Sarah Bernhardt and others.
