Villon translates Modigliani’s La Bohémienne of 1917 into aquatint: a seated woman in a white blouse with a red collar holds a swaddled child in blue across her lap, the elongated face and almond eyes rendered in superimposed grounds of ochre, grey-green and brick. The impression comes from the Chalcographie du Louvre, which holds the copper plate and issues unsigned restrikes; it is distinct from the signed Bernheim-Jeune edition of 200 published in 1927-28.
