Condition: good condition, unframed
Provenance: Livre d’Or de Yves Guérin, compiled 1963–1992 (single-owner provenance). Dated from the collector’s Casino de Dinard period; Le Gallou is the painter of Dinard par excellence.
Description: A faceted, near-cubist view of Dinard — a curving staircase descending in the foreground, a balustrade surmounted by an urn, and beyond, the beach, sea and rocky islets of the Côte d’Émeraude — the whole built from a grid of translucent, overlapping planes in soft blues, greys, ochres and whites. Paul Le Gallou is a Dinard painter, a graduate of applied arts whose work, held in private collections worldwide, conjures a dreamlike world of fabulous architecture, vast perspectives, skies, seas and staircases leading toward an unsolvable mystery — precisely the spirit of the dedication, in which the familiar landscape of Dinard becomes the imaginary. Signed, dated and dedicated by hand.
