Description: A vigorous, gestural view of Rome — domes and bell-towers rising against a blue sky, drawn with bold black felt-tip and brush over warm washes of brown, ochre and blue, the whole boldly abstracted in a few sweeping strokes. Robert Watbot was a French painter born in Paris in 1942, trained at St Martin’s School of Art in London, who travelled to Brazil before returning to France; a painter of landscape, still life and the figure, he was the subject of a posthumous homage at the Musée du Château de Dinan in 1999. Signed, dated and dedicated by hand.
