Black creature-signs dance across a scratched vermilion ground among crayoned words — “Aimé”, “MAEGHT”, “aigle”, “papillon”, “doux” — the letters themselves drawn into the swarm of figures. Miró turns the dedication into the image, a farewell in his own pictographic alphabet to the dealer who had shown him since 1948. Published in the final, memorial issue of Derrière le Miroir.
